Some Canadians avoid applying for life insurance because they believe the process is too time consuming, invasive or just a hassle in general. However, for many, applying for life insurance involves simply answering a few questions and determining the amount you want to spend monthly or the choosing coverage you need!
For those who do require medical testing, the process is very easy.
In general, this is what you can expect:
The insurance company hires and covers the cost of a paramedical professional to do the testing in your home at a time convenient to you.
The paramedical professional collects basic information such as your medical history, height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse.
Sometimes blood and/or urine samples are gathered to determine the presence of antibodies or antigens to determine the potential or existence of viruses, disease, medications and illegal drugs.
Occasionally additional exams may be required based on the preliminary results.
If a medical exam is required, we recommend the following actions 24 hours prior to your appointment:
- Get a good sleep
- Avoid alcohol
- Limit your salt intake
- Refrain from strenuous exercise or exertive activities
